Commemorative plaques

Three commemorative plaques on the churchyard wall of the Sint Nikolaestsjerke (St. Nicholas church) of Swichum, displaying two Coats of Arms of the Aytta family and a foundation stone with the Latin inscription: “Opus Hoc Viglius zuichemus ab: / Aijtta fundauit et procur_te Gerbrando / eius fratre excedificatuin existit / .A° 1572” (This work was founded by Wigle van Aytta and was built through the care of his brother Gerbrand in 1572). It is from the Aytta chapel that used to be here, but was demolished in 1912.
